Shale shakers are components of drilling equipment used in many industries, such as coal cleaning, mining, shield tunnelling,oil and gas drilling,core drilling, water well drilling, geotechnical drilling,geothermal drilling. They are the first phase of a solids control system/mud circulating system/fluids recovery system/slurry mud system on a drilling rig, and are used to remove large solids (cuttings) from the drilling fluid ("Mud").
Since drill solids degrade rapidly when first processed, it is critical they quickly be removed from the circulating mud. That's where the shaker comes in, playing a vital role as the first mechanism for solids removal. Failure to keep solids out of the active mud could mean diminished record of production, equipment damage, non-productive time and higher costs.
